A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

I am asked quite often what bookworms like to eat. My favorite food would have to be old worn out books. I love to eat all those words and pictures. I would never eat a book that was in good condition because that would make it impossible for someone else to read it. But once a book is torn, dirty, and worn out, I love to chomp down and have a feast.

I also like to eat regular foods. I work really hard to eat a good diet with lots of fruits and vegetables in it. I know that a good diet will keep me healthy, and it will give me all the energy I need to have. My mother and father always made sure that Faye Belle and I ate foods and books that were good for us. How about your diet? Do you eat in a healthy way?

I found a really interesting book that talks about food and what it does for us. It told me about what foods were good, why I crave certain foods, and what my body does with the food once I eat it. If you think you'd like to learn more about food, you might want to read this book, too.  To read a review of it, click on these underlined blue words: BURP!: The Most Interesting Book You'll Ever Read About Eating by Diane Swanson.

If you ate a lot of Easter candy this past week, you really need to read this book to see if that is healthy or not. I love to eat a little candy, and chocolate is my favorite. Naturally, I would never eat Gummy Worms!

Earth Day Feature
Back in 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin believed that the people of our country should take a stand and speak up in support of the environment. He asked people from coast to coast to protest on April 22, 1970 to organize groups and show their concern for the environment. This nationwide demonstration, which included some 20 million people, became the first Earth Day. Help celebrate Earth Day this year by checking out our roundup of Earth Day books.

I read the book Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn.  I thought it was very good.  I liked it so much that I read it in only a few days.  It's about a girl who has a brother and a stepsister and her stepsister supposedly is friends with a ghost named Helen.  Then Helen, the ghost, ruins the girl, her brother and their mom's stuff.  Then one day Helen says she is really lonely to the girl's stepsister and try's to bring her in the pond so she will drown and be with her.  To find out what happens you will have to read this great book.  I highly recommend this book.

Hi, I wanted to share my experience with seeing an author. He was Todd Strasser. He is a really nice guy. He also writes really cool books. I got one signed from him. My best friend got to go and have lunch with him. It was so cool! He talked to us about writing books, and now I am writing my own mini-books! Here is a tip from him: Don't tell the story, show it! Example:  Incorrect: John saw a monster. Correct: John saw a huge, green, slimy thing with bog white fangs! Thanx!

my favorite books are the bailey school kids.  there is always something weird going on in their school like witches don't do back flips. they thought their gym teacher was a witch. ghosts don't eat potato chips was weird. when the trail of potato chips led to the attic and when the garlic chips spelled attic it was weird.
gremlins don't eat bubble gum was weird too. when the school lights went out. when the school light came back on their assistant worker wore a light bulb charm on her wrist. and when the school's clocks went out. that book was weird. wizards don't need computers was weird too. when a book was lost 2 years the librarian  used the computer and made it come back.  when the library looked like a castle was so so so weird too.  I just love the bailey school kids books so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much.

There lived three boys who couldn't talk. so one of the boys went to a school. One of the boys went to a bar and the last boy went to a candy shop. the boy who went to a school learned how to say me, me, me! The boy who went to a bar learned how to say fork and knife, fork and knife! and the third boy learned how to say goody goody gum drops, goody goody gum drops. so one day the boys were walking and they see a dead man in the street then a cop comes by and says, "who killed this man?" the first boy said, "me, me, me!" he went to the second one and asked,"how did you kill him?" and he says,"fork and knife, fork and knife!" and then he goes to the third one and says,"you're going to jail!" and he says,"goody goody gum drops, goody gum drops!"

A really good book my class read together was Bud, Not Buddy.  In the story Bud's mother died when he was six years old and he's  9 now.  Now since his mother died he gets from city to city by trains and walking. Then he goes to a place where a rich man lives and the rich man's name is Herman E. Callaway.  It was the best book I read!!

Once upon a time there was a girl named....Elizabeth. She was 16. She had a girl named...Danielle. Danielle grew up with no dad and only and a queen as a Mom. Here real Mom was too young to take care of a child so Elizabeth gave her to a queen. She thought that would be best for both of them. Danielle didn't like her name so she changed it to.....Daniella. Danielle (Daniella) fell in love with a prince named George. The queen/the evil stepmom made George fall in love with her. when Daniella found out she was very very mad at her .she screamed and yelled and then ran away. She found her real Mom and told her everything that happened. Elizabeth felt really bad but there was a problem--where was Daniella going to stay? Elizabeth was still too young...but she moved in with her Mom and everything worked out OK. She told her parents that she had a kid Daniella had a place to stay and the queen was no longer the queen--she got caught stealing from her local bank.
