A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
One reason I love to read is because reading lets me imagine I am somewhere else or
someone else. When I read a history book, I pretend I am living in the period when the
book takes place. I like to imagine what life was like back then. When I read a mystery
book, I pretend I am a great detective, solving the mystery along with the characters.
Sometimes I cry with sad books, laugh with funny books, and even get scared when I read
monster books. Books let us pretend we are in them, and are part of the stories.
-Booker T. Worm
Mother's Day Books
Moms do so much for us and we don't always take the time to let them know how much they
are appreciated and loved. To make that expression of gratitude a little easier, we've
provided a roundup of some very sweet books about the special bond between mother and
child.
We hope moms and children everywhere will take the time to check out some of our
selections here. And don't
forget to do something nice for your mom on Mother's Day!
Hot Off the Presses!
May's books are hitting the shelves, and we've got a peek at some of the best ones in
our Cool New Books
feature. Highlights include BALONEY (HENRY P.), a hiliarious picture book about an alien
boy by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith; NOTES FROM A LIAR AND HER DOG, a novel starring a girl
with a talent for telling clever (and funny) lies; and THE TRANSMOGRIFICATION OF ROSCOE
WIZZLE, in which a boy begins turning into a bug! These, along with new works by Theodore
Taylor, Gail Carson Levine and others, should keep the young readers in your house
entertained.

NZINGHA, WARRIOR QUEEN OF
MATAMBA
Nzingha was a real African queen, a woman who lived from 1582 until 1663. This book covers
her life when she is 13 years old, from July 1595 until September 1596. This book is
fictionalized history. The author carefully researched all she could about the real people
and things that happened. The book has pictures, maps, a family tree, and historical
notes. Nzingha, the brave African girl, did grow up to rule her land, the country that is
now Angola. Read our review of her engrossing story here.

Where is the darkness?
Where is the fear?
Standing here,
there is nothing I feel.
Hold your breath and dive right in,
Not putting yourself to the limits,
should be a sin.
Holding yourself back,
try to get yourself on track.
Anything can happen at any time,
so when you leave your parents,
don't end with a sigh.
You never know what's gonna happen

life in the world
the life in this world is not that easy,
for every day is more scary,
and every corner you turn,
there is always something there,
you drive in your car and a drunk driver kills you,
you goto school and get a bomb threat,
you goto the bank and someone is there stealin money,
when you grow up,
what are you going to be?
a sicko like these shown above?
or an old little person who gets nothing...
its just mean how people ruin there life and others life ,
so try to stand up to sicko's and maybe others will too.
so your child or friends or sisters or brothers,
can have the life just like yours (hopefully it was good)
so they live to be very strong happy and nice.
**Treat others the way you want to be treated and please never drink and drive**

Books in a Library
My story is going to be about how to take care of books from a library. You should
always put books in a safe place, so none of your brothers or sisters can ruen the book.
Make sure you should bring your book in the right date. Don't leave books outside over
night, because it might get wet if it rains. Don't read your book when your eating,
because it might get really dirty.
You shouldn't do all those things to a book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Bookworms,
Hi. How's everyone? I'd like to recommend a book. There is a
book which I thought was really interesting. I would like to tell you about it. It's
called Pride and Prejudice. It's by Jane Austen. The book is kind of long, but it's great.
The story is mostly about love and pride. It's kind of like like a--old time -- story.
Anyway--there is the Benet family. The Bennets are made up of two parents and five
daughters. The parents are kind of mean. The mother didn't care about her daughters, she
only wanted them to get married, to rich guys. Both of the parents had a favorite
daughter. I won't tell you about the middle because I want you to find it out. But I'll
give you a hint---it involves Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy (the main characters). It also
involves marriage and pride. But in the end Lydia, Jane and Elizabeth get married.
Elizabeth marries Mr. Darcy. Jane marries Mr. BIngley. Lydia marries Mr. Wickham. Their
sister Kitty spents time her with two older sisters. Their other sister Mary is the only
who get left behind, at home, that is. The story is awsome. You've got read it. Thanks!
Bye.
