the front screen of Kidsreads.com and find out!
Cycling/Tour de France
Do you like to ride your bike? Did you know that bike riding can be more than fun,
exercise and transportation? It's an Olympic sport, and popular worldwide. And for serious
cyclists, the Tour de France is by far the most prestigious racing event. In our cycling feature we
introduce you to cycling, the Tour, and one of the sport's great champions of recent
years, the U.S.A.'s very own Lance Armstrong.
Celebrate Harry's Birthday at
kidsreads.com
Celebrate Harry's --- and J.K. Rowling's --- birthday (July 31) with kidsreads.com and count down to
November 16th (the day that the Warner Bros. film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
is released) with new Harry-related books coming out in July, August, September and
October!
New Harry Potter Games!
Visit the Harry Potter Games
Page for 5 new trivia games about J.K. Rowling, the Women and Girls of the Harry
Potter books, Magical Creatures, and more!
Harry Potter Magic Spell Contest!
In celebration of Harry's and J. K. Rowling's birthdays, Booker T. Worm and Kidsreads.com
wanted to give Harry something really special. So, we waved our wands and came up with The Harry Potter Magic
Spell Contest !!
Here's What You Can
Win:
FOUR wizardly spellmakers will win a Hogwarts Junior Wizard prize package which includes
Harry Potter metal bookmarks, a set of Harry Potter Journals and a deluxe Harry Potter
coloring kit.
ONE superior spellmaker will win our Hogwarts Senior Wizard Grand Prize! This includes all
of the above prizes PLUS the HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE MOVIE POSTER BOOK. Be
among the first of your friends to get an inside look at the making of the movie!!
Here's What You Do:
Make up a very wizardly sounding spell for Harry and explain how the spell works.
For example, you could give him the "Homeworkus Banishum" spell. When Harry
waves his wand and says those words, his homework assignments disappear --- but he still
gets an A in the class!
Send your spell and explanation to: BookerTWorm@aol.com. All entries are due by August 29,
2001 at 11:59PM ET.
Harry Potter Poll
Okay...one poll is not enough to celebrate Harry, so on this page, we have TWO polls:
Have you read the Harry Potter books more than once? If so, which one have you read the
most?
THE TRUTH ABOUT RATS, RULES
& SEVENTH GRADE
Eleven-year-old Larch lives in a trailer park with her drop-dead gorgeous, but very quiet
mother. Larch's mother is a real whiz at keeping things fixed in the trailer, but she
seems kind of remote; she and Larch never really talk or connect. Larch's father died when
Larch was just two years old. She doesn't know how her father died, but she believes there
was something fishy about the circumstances of his death.
Will things turn around for Larch? What is the truth she learns about her father? And what
happens to the little dog? Find out in THE TRUTH ABOUT
RATS, RULES & SEVENTH GRADE.
FOLLOWING FAKE MAN
If there's one thing that everyone goes through while growing up, it's a search
for self. Sometimes, however, you cant discover who you are without learning about
the past. This is the case in Barbara Ware Holmes's novel, FOLLOWING FAKE MAN. While this book might confuse some
younger readers, older kids will be able to understand the conflicts presented and enjoy
this book.

Waiting, counting,
Watching the numbers quickly rise,
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty.
Wondering, Where will I be,
When the counting ends?
No need to wonder anymore.
The end is here,
At book 54.
Hints were dropped since 45,
The countdown has begun, and
It has all fallen in place...
It will all be over very soon.
Many move on,
Trying to forget our series so dear.
I cannot move on,
For doing so would be severing part of me.
I am Animorphs.
