A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
Do you ever get frustrated when looking around kidsreads.com, not able to find the
book review that you saw just last week? Over the past couple of weeks our technical worms
have been busy building an index page full of all the
books that we have reviewed here on kidsreads.com. We hope that you find it as useful as
we do!
I'll make my note short this week as there's lots of news to catch up on!
And now for my news this week...
--Booker T. Worm
VOTE IN THE POLL!
This week's poll question is:
When you read series books do you read them in order?
You can vote by selecting your answer from the front screen of Kidsreads.com.
Question of the Week
Here's this week's Question of the Week:
Besides Harry Potter (duh, we know you read all those!), what series books have you
read in full?
Send your answer to YouSaid@kidsreads.com.
Write "Question" in the subject line. We'll post your answers online!
King Arthur and Camelot
In the wonderful body of literature known as Arthurian legend, knights on horseback
galloped through the Middle Ages in Europe jousting, saving damsels in distress, and
trying to prove both their courage and their honor. Fire-breathing dragons threatened
villages, kings schemed and battled over vast lands, and sorcerers and wise men like
Merlin made things even more interesting.
With our round-up of books on King Arthur and
his kingdom, which was known as Camelot, you can travel back to these days of chivalry,
adventure and intrigue --- and find plenty of reading excitment!
Madeline Series
What makes Madeline so popular? Her spirit: unlike so many girly-girl heroines, Madeline
is afraid of nothing. She laughs at tigers in the zoo, taunts bullies and runs away to
join a circus. She is also always a kind friend to the rest of her schoolmates and never
loses her lopsided smile. We've got all the info you could want about Madeline and her
adventures, so read on!
Magic Tree House Series
In the Magic Tree House Series, Jack and his
little sister Annie are just two regular kids from Frog Creek, Pennsylvania, until they
discover a mysterious tree house packed with all sorts of books.
This is a magical tree house and the books in it have the power to transport them to any
place in history or the future. From ancient Egypt to outer space, all the kids have to do
to go someplace exciting is turn a page and make a wish. What started out as an ordinary
old summer is turning out to be the adventure of Jack and Annie's lives!
THE DIARY OF MELANIE MARTIN
10-year-old Melanie gets to go to Italy for a vacation with her parents. Not only that,
but Melanie gets to miss ten days of school. But the thing that worries Melanie the most
is the assignment her teacher gives her. Her teacher thinks she should learn something
there and make up for missing school. So Melanie has to bring back postcards to share
(which is cool); she has to think about her place in the family (say what?), and she has
to write a poem, with no less than 30 lines. Melanie is absolutely going to die over this
one. You'll want to read this book to see what
Melanie learns --- and if she survives this trip to Italy.
WOOF! MY NEW BEST FRIEND
In this third book in the WOOF! series, find out how Kaia and her new puppy Fred get
along, in WOOF! MY NEW BEST FRIEND. And if you're
a dog lover, this title contains something extra, just for you: an autographed (maybe
we should say "paw-graphed"?) full-color photo of Fred.

I am Nature
I am a tree, swaying in the wind.
I am the wind, whispering through the branches.
I am the branches, full of acorns.
I am the acorns, falling to the ground.
I am the ground, catching the acorns.
I am a squirrel, gathering up the acorns.
I am nature, a cycle of life.

A couple of my favorite books (I have a lot!) are in series. I would
definatly recommend them to any person. In your "catogories" you have on
your website, I would place them both (the whole sieres of books) on the "advanced
new faves" list. They are:
His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
It consists of three books, the first titled THE GOLDEN COMPASS, the second titled THE
SUBTLE KNIFE, and the last titled THE AMBER SPYGLASS.
They are all excellent books about a girl named Lyra who lives in a different world very
much like our own, but with a few differences. For one, everyone in Lyra's world has
a daemon, which is an animal and personal friend that never leaves their side. Along
the way in this exciting sieres, Lyra teams up with a boy named Will, a boy from our world
who happens to find a window into others, including Lyra's. The last book will hold
you riveted until the last page.
The next series: They are by Susan Cooper, and it consists of five books, which are called
OVER SEA, UNDER STONE, THE DARK IS RISING, GREENWITCH, THE GREY KING, and SILVER ON THE
TREE. These may not be in the correct sequence.
These books are about a boy named Will who discovers he is the last and youngest of the
Old Ones, a group of beings who have magical powers that they use to fight agaist the
Dark. He has many, MANY adventures that will thrill you and make you read until
dark. On the way he meets up with many new friends, including the son of King
Arthur! These are one of the greatest sieres I have ever read.
These are the series of books I recommend, and I hope you enjoy them!
