A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Quick note to any of you who tried to access our websites last weekend. Our server was down. We apologize for the inconvenience!

There is a lot to catch up on, so on with the news...

--Booker T. Worm

Question of the Week
Here's this week's Question of the Week:

If you could write your favorite author, what one question would you want to ask him/her?

Send your answer to YouSaid@kidsreads.com. Write "Question" in the subject line. We'll post your answers online!

Cool New Books for October
This month's round up of Cool New Books for October include five new series books: SAM SAMURAI (The Time Warp Trio #8) by Jon Scieszka; SCARE SCHOOL (Nightmare Room #11) by R.L.Stine; RISING STAR (Thoroughbred #49) by Joanna Campbell; SURPRISE, SURPRISE (Two of a Kind #19) by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen; RETURN TO DEL (Deltora Quest #8) by Emily Rodda. And if you aren't into series, check out the latest non-series books at Cool New Books for October.

Coming Soon
Can't wait to find out what new books are coming out next month? Well, look no further. We have a list of upcoming new reads on our Coming Soon page.

A to Z Mysteries Series
Along with his two best friends, Josh and Ruth Rose, Dink unravels mysteries in this series of books from author Ron Roy. Follow the clues along with Dink and his friends on each of their adventures!

Wrinkle in Time Series
What do you get when you blend science, mystery, adventure and fantasy? The Time Quartet, Madeline L'Engle's award winning and bestselling series. Each of these four books tells the story of the Murry siblings. Join Kidsreads as we tell you all there is to know about A WRINKLE IN TIME, A WIND IN THE DOOR, A SWIFTLY TILTING PLANET and MANY WATERS series.

Encyclopedia Brown Series
Right up there with The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew as one of the all-time greatest kid sleuths is Leroy Brown --- better known as Encyclopedia Brown ---  who has been solving neighborhood mysteries for almost forty years! That's right, Encyclopedia has been cracking cases (for a tidy sum of 25 cents a day) and going up against the Meany gang since way, way, way before any of you were born. In fact, many of your parents may have grown up reading Encyclopedia Brown, too. And you thought you'd never have anything in common with them!!

Time Warp Trio Series
Why read the TIME WARP TRIO series? Because with heroes like Joe, Fred and Sam, history (or the future, for that matter) is never boring. Each book in the series places the characters in a different time period, solving mysteries, battling baddies and just generally having hilarious, kooky adventures.

BOOK REVIEWS:

THE STORY OF TRACY BEAKER
Tracy Beaker hasn't had an easy life. She lives in a children's home after having been removed from two foster families.

If you want the chance to laugh out loud while reading, pick up THE STORY OF TRACY BEAKER. If you want to see how a child no one else wants manages to make her way through life, pick up this book. Either way you will not be disappointed.

PURE DEAD MAGIC
Some books are serious, some books are funny, some books are fantasy, some books are weird. PURE DEAD MAGIC is a seriously funny, weird fantasy! But I mean that in the best way possible!

DON'T PAT THE WOMBAT!
This book is full of wallabies, wombats, mud pits, lots of Australian slang, blood-sucking leeches, caves, giant pumpkins called Meatloaf, and some pretty crazy characters.

STOLEN WORDS
If you've lost someone you love, reading this story may help you feel less alone. By reading all about Robyn's inner most thoughts, it feels like you become the person who found Robyn's diary. But don't be scared off by what seems like a totally depressing book. STOLEN WORDS has a very hopeful ending. What a great book!

We Asked, You Said

Quote of the Week
I am convinced that every boy, in his heart, would rather steal second base than an automobile. -- Thomas Campbell Clark

---Tragedy
Children crying,people dying
a sad,sad sight
But once more we have to see
others want to fight
why can't people just get along?
and try to do whats right, not wrong
Predudiciasm,racisim
why don't we all sing the same rythem?
The tradegy that accured
will forever change our world
thousands of lives gone
along with others bonds
we'll all remember this
the world's worst tradegy

* * * * *

Fear
Boys and girls, do you not see?
What keeps you from you enjoying your liberty?
Its fear---our biggest weakness
If it leads our life we're in deep bleakness
The way you can beat it is if you will evade
Be positive and determined;don't be afraid
Be more open and express what's in
If you can stop fear, you will win
So follow the way to big success
Do what's right and not what's wrong and then will you be blessed

Tragadies
Innocent People with hearts broken
Helpless and injured waiting for safty
Women, Men, and Firemans helping this to be better
Our nation is strong and can over come this
But in our hearts we can still hold the tragic memories.
God Bless America

Please read Ella Enchanted! It is great for everyone but I think girls have a little more favor for it. Not to be mean or anything. It is filled with magic, adventure and Romance! It is so exciting and suspenseful. You never know what will happen next. If you haven't read this here is a little:

"That fool of a fairy Lucinda did not intend to lay a curse one me."
Gail Carson Levine's -Ella Enchanted

Don't you already want to know about it! One sentence dripping with suspense. Just imagine what the rest is like! Gotta go.
