A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
My sister FayeBelle called me to tell me about the sleep-over her son went to this past weekend. His name is Text Reader, and he loves to spend the night with his good friend, Rapid Reader. Rapid Reader lives in a big old house at the edge of the woods. Some people have said the house is haunted and has ghosts in it. Well, last Saturday night, Rapid Reader and Text Reader decided to play a trick on Rapid Reader's sister, Autherine. When everyone had gone to bed, the two boys went up into the attic and made strange noises trying to scare his sister. Autherine slept so soundly, she never heard them, so their trick didn't work. I guess the boys are not good haunters.
They should have hired ghosts to do the trick for them, like the ghost agency in a great book I read last week. It is a book about boys who try to hire ghosts in order to scare someone to death. The book was really exciting, and if you like ghost stories and mysteries, you'll love it, too. To read more about it, you'll want to check our review of DIAL-A-GHOST. I know my nephew would never want to hurt anyone, so I am glad they didn't scare Autherine to death!
Have you ever played a trick on someone? Did they get mad at you? My sister used to play tricks on me all the time. When we were young worms, she used to put bags of ice in my bed under the blankets. When I got into bed, I nearly froze to death until the bed warmed up. Brrrrrrrr! I always check under my blankets before I get into bed because of her.

THE BELOVED DEARLY
Ernie Castellano is grounded because he got caught at school selling cheeseburgers on mystery meat day. But being grounded doesn't stop Ernie from sneaking behind his father's back to start a pet funeral business. Ernie teams up with a nine-year-old artist who makes the caskets, and there's "Swimming Pool" --- a professional mourner who can cry on demand. Ernie becomes very bossy and his new friends don't like it one bit. Suddenly Ernie's own dog dies. Will Ernie realize the value of life versus the value of money? You'll have to read THE BELOVED DEARLY to find out!
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss/Read Across America
Saturday, March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday. Although Dr. Seuss passed away back in 1991, kids across the country celebrate Dr. Seuss' memory with the Read Across America project. Celebrate with the rest of the country on Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading! Spend the day celebrating reading and take a moment to check out our Dr. Seuss/Read Across America feature.
