A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

We have been having fun getting ready for St. Patrick's Day. Since I am a green worm, I am already the right color for the holiday. Yesterday my niece and nephew came over to help me cut out hundreds of shamrocks to use to decorate the library. On Saturday, we are going to have a special St. Patrick's Day read-a-thon for all the worm kids. Some of the adults are taking turns reading books aloud to the wormkids.

Once some books are read, the kids will use the shamrocks to make crafts like picture frames, posters, and wall pictures with them. The teen worms are going to put on a special St. Patrick's Day play, and then there will be all kinds of green treats for everyone to enjoy. Faye Belle, my sister, is making green cupcakes, green punch, and green candies. Yummy! I think we will have a wonderful time. Want to see what books we are reading? Click here. I am going to be reading the book with the stories of the symbols of the holiday.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Arthur Series
Arthur the aardvark is everywhere these days. Many of you know him from his top-rated TV show on PBS. And some of you may know him from before his show on TV, as star of the Arthur Adventure picture books that Marc Brown first introduced 20 years ago. But no matter how you met, to know Arthur is to love him. Now Arthur fans can enjoy longer stories about their favorite aardvark third-grader and his family and friends adapted from episodes of the television show. A series of chapter books which launched with ARTHUR’S MYSTERY ENVELOPE has a long list of titles --- and the list is growing every year! There is also a brand new series featuring all the goofy but charming gang of Arthur's neighborhood entitled Good Sports. You can find out more about both of these series and the author, Marc Brown, in our Arthur Series feature.  Be sure to check out the games that go with this feature, including a word scramble, a word search and more!.

Note from Booker: Is there a great read that you'd like to tell others about? If so, drop me a note about it at BookerTWorm@aol.com and maybe you'll see it posted in the next newsletter!

Whoever wrote the poem FUN, well you shouldn't have because that poem was on SpongeBob SquarePants, and unless it's your original work you should put the author's name.  If you don't it's called plagiarism, and I think it's illegal. Be more careful next time.

*****

Have you read On My Honor? I recommend it.

*****

Who ever said they read all the Redwall books my favorite was Pearls Of Lutra. It was so good.

From Booker T. Worm: We here at KidsReads.com agree! So much so that we've dedicated an entire feature to the Redwall series.

*****

You should read the Left Behind series. They are great heart warming but scary stories.

*****

I think Matilda Bone is a great book. It teaches you that there are more things to life than preying and cleaning.

*****

I would like to send a e-mail about the Left-Behind series. They are an inspiring series to young Christians who read them but if you read them and you don't know what they are truly about then you can't understand the true meaning of the books that the authors are trying to distribute. I'm not saying that you have to believe what the book says to read them but people just think that it is really good fiction that the authors made up but it is the truth from revelation that has been turned into an exciting series.

What is the fastest mountain in the world?

Just about everyone loves Sharon Creech! Basically all the mailbag letters say that.... I tried Bloomablity once, but I didnt even finish the 1st chapter! Well, I was only in like third grade so I dont think I knew what was going on. But because of all you people who reccommended it, I'll try again. Maybe I'll like it better this time!

From Booker T. Worm: Have you checked out sharoncreech.com? There's lots of cool information there about the author and her books!

My favorite book was “Artemis Fowl” By Eoin Colfer. If you liked Harry Potter, you will probably like “Artemis Fowl”. It is about a criminal mastermind who kidnaps a fairy for a ransom, outsmarting them time after time. He is a genius, and he is only 12 years old.

I would like to recommend the book "FROM THE MIXED UP FILES OF MRS. BASIL E. FRANKWEILER", by E.L. Konigsburg. I read it last year in third grade, and I checked it out today to read it again. I would recommend it to anyone ages 8-12. It is a great book.

*****

The Wind Singer - I have just read this amazing book and recommended it to my year six students. They have found it intriguing and an inspiration. It has many controversial themes which they are enjoying discussing. We are currently studying cultural diversity and predjuce and this book has fit in beautifully with certain issues.
