A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
What do you like to do as you read? I love to sit in my soft rocking chair to read. I make a glass of iced tea or a mug of hot chocolate to sip on as I read. I also like to munch on snack food, too. I like popcorn, pretzels, slices of apples, squares of cheese, or raisins are he best! My nieces and nephews like to eat candy when they read. I try to tell them that it is not healthy for them, but they ignore me. The really do not want to hear about eating the right foods. Do you know what foods are healthy and why they are good for you? Do you know how your body uses the food you eat? Last night I had a real strong craving for some dried banana slices, and I didn't have any in the house. I had to go out to the store to buy some. When I got back home, I went to the bookshelf in my den and got down a book called BURP! The Most Interesting Book You'll Ever Read About Eating. I have not read it in a long time. It is a book about foods, how we use them, and why we crave foods at times. I read up on why I was craving those banana slices. You may want to read about this yourself. I think it is neat how our bodies use the food we eat!

Quote of the Week
New roses bloom everyday, and sometimes they remind me of the rising sun. The orange and yellow that brings the red to the sky. Everyday the sun comes up and does its job by shining down on us,and keeping us warm. But what if one of these days, the sun doesn't come up? What would we all do then? Its like losing your best friend in a car crash, or hitting your head on a piece of wood. What would happen then? I guess we just have to keep on wondering about the secrets of life, and hope for the best in it. --- Written by a fellow Bookworm.

ODE TO THE WORLD
If my opinion mattered
And my voice was heard
There would be no more
Bad People in this world
Children would laugh
And children would play
There would be no more child abuse or neglect reports
On the evening news each day.
All countries would unite
Afghan and Americans alike
No more hurt
No more pain
STANDING TOGETHER
PROTECTING EACH OTHER
Violence would end
And peace would reign
Children with uncertain futures
Could choose their own way
Every home would be big enough-
Every wallet thick enough-
To keep families together and out of bad situations
Hearts would never stop
Only happy tears would fall
Envy would be nonexistent
Flowers would always bloom
Sickness and despair would vanish
Hopefully one day soon
The world will listen
And open their hearts
To hear the opinion
Of a child who is
Lost

The Secret Garden
By: Austin K.
Today I am in a magic garden. I found the gate it is made of gold. I go in. I see giant rose bushes and fountain made of lilys. I climb a tall vine. I see the whole garden the air smells sweet. I go and sit in a flower. It starts to float then it goes down a path. It goes dark minutes were passing still no sign of light. An hour later its light. It’s the gate it takes me out and drops me on the sidewalk. I walked home confused. Was it too scary to see or is it a secret; next time I’ll bring a flashlight.

*****
I love to read, so this newsletter is a great way for me to stay on top of all the new books. Thanks! My favorite authors include Sharon Creech, JK Rowling and Wendelin Van Draanen. Reading is an important part of my life because it teaches me valuable lessons and helps my imagination grow. I like to write stories of my own too. They are usually about my life, mixed in with a little bit of the characters I meet through reading. Do you have any information about when the third book from the "Make Lemonade" trilogy will be out? I like those books and I can't find them on your site.

Who ever wrote that they have read Where the Red Ferns Grow they were right. I own that book and I have read three times and I still cry at the end even when I know what hapeens. it is so sad when Little Anne who was so sweet and Big Dan died. I thought that those were horrible ways they died. I recommend Old Yeller for who ever read that that is a very sad book. So is sounder and Savage sam who is the son of Old Yeller.

Booker your newsletter is so great. I really really like it. I like the way you put kids thoughts in the Newsletter.

The person that asked about that lady who said that J.K. Rowling copied her said that she wrote a book that had a boy named Larry Potter in it and that she had a Nimbus Two thousand in the book. I do not belive it either.
*****
I have a book called Fairy Tales, and I sat down to read it one day. In the book, I found the story of the Little Mermaid, and it was SOOOOOO good, and interesting, the language and the words!!!!
*****
If you want a good book to read, try the THOUROUGHBRED SERIES. You'll especially like them if you like horses. I just finished reading the newest one by Joanne Campell called: Distance Runner. It was not sad at all, and about a girls dreams coming true as a jockey. It is such an interesting book, I finished it in one sitting!! Read it and you'll sure thank me, I guarentee.

~The Golden Compass series by Philip Pullman

To whoever thinks Ella Enchanted would make a good movie, Hollywood agrees with you! Miramax Films just announced a whole slate of children's pictures they're working on, including films based on Ella Enchanted, Artemis Fowl, and Cricket in Times Square.

Ok ok I am sure you all know that Harry Potter is a great book. But there are also other authors that write good books, too. Like, Cynthia Defelice. I just recently finished a very good book. It is called Nowhere To Call Home, and it is by Cynthia DeFelice. The Ghost of Fossil Glen and its sequel, that was just currently published, are a must for all readers. It is like action, mystery, spook (of course, the word ggost is in the title :-P) and a lot of other stuff put together. I just also read a biography of Rachel Carlson (who I have started to really admire) called Listening to Crickets. That is a really great book that tells about her life.
*****
To the person that asked if there is a book 5 in the series Song of Lioness by Tamora Pierce:
There isn't a book five in The Song of the Lioness saga but there are more books that she has written including The Immortals quartet (first book is called Wild Magic) and Protector of the Small quartet (first book is called First test) and there is the circle of magic and circle opens series (i know shes written loads! shes really good though!) but they aren't set in tortall.
