A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Happy 4th of July! I hope everybody is enjoying a safe and exciting holiday! The whole Worm family is going to watch the fireworks. This is a great time to relax with the family around the barbecue or on the beach, always with a good book nearby.

In honor of July 4th, Kidsreads has created a new feature dedicated to books that make us feel patriotic. What is America? What does it mean to be American? These are big questions, but we've found books for all ages with the big answers. Check out our Patriotic Kids' Books!

While you're in a patriotic mood, check out our updates to the MY AMERICA series, which gives readers some new additions this summer as three fictional young Americans continue their stories in second books of Virginia's diary during the Civil War, Hope's diary of the American Revolution, and Corey's diary about the Underground Railroad.

Have a firecracker Fourth of July, and I'll see you all next week!

--Booker T. Worm

America
America always high just like the sky.
Mountains so strong no one can bring you down.
Everyone feels safe in your arms.
Red, white, and blue our nations colors are true.
Incredibly beautiful like no where else on the earth.
Courageous now and for ever.
America, America united we stand.

There Is A Light
In The Darkness
There Is Some Love
Mixed In With All This Hate
How Will You Ever Find It?
This Is A Mystery So Great
There Is A Path Of Kindness
On The Roads Of Cruelty
So If This Is True
Will This Path
Lead Me To You?
Is There Love In Your Heart?
Can You See In The Dark
Are You One Of The Few
Who Knows What To Do
With There Anger?
Is There A Shred Of
Hope In This World
That Some Might Be Decent
Instead Of Savage?
Who Knows It Might Be You....

You And Me
I Love The Way We
Just Sit There

Just You And Me

Looking At The Beautiful Stars Up In That Gorgeous Sky

You Holding Me So That
I Feel As Nothing
Can Hurt Me

You And Me
Are The Ones
That Will Be
Together
Forever

I Wrote This About How I Hope To Feel When I Am Older With Someone

I read a terrific book called Ruby Holler, by Sharon Creech. This is definitely a 5 star book! It's about some troublesome twins that live in an orphanage, and one day an old couple adopts. They realize it's really a magical place, but ofcourse if you have to read it to believe it.

One of my all-time favorite books is Where the Red Fern Grows. It makes me cry every time. I also recommend the Ender's Game series, although the topic is sort of serious. It's a great set of books though.

I think your site is the most fun, but at the same time educational for kids. It is great for summer, because it keeps kids practicing their reading and writing skills while having a great time.I just finished reading a book called Tuck Everlasting. I would recommend it to boys and girls ages 9-13.Currently, I am reading a book called Esperanza Rising. So far, I would recommend it to girls and boys ages 10-14. I also read a book a couple years ago called Sees Behind Trees. It was one of the best books I have ever read. I would recommend it to kids ages 8-12. I think I will be an author, a marine biologist, a film director, or a film writer when I grow up. I think Kidsreads is a great site.

To whoever wrote the first poem about America, that poem is beautiful. Tell them that I congratulate them on such a wonderful poem and that I would like to tell them about poetry.com, which has a contest about poems on America. That would be a nice poem to enter. A dedicated reader and poet.
