A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
I was sitting on my patio reading a book this weekend when I heard Rapid and Artherine playing like they were back in the days of the great knights. They made a castle out of a big box their new refrigerator came in, and they used broomsticks as horses they rode around the yard on. Their mother helped them make horse heads to put on top of the broomsticks, and their dad helped them paint the box to look like a castle. Rapid called himself Sir Reader and his sister called herself Lady Artherine. They wore costumes they put together from their parents' clothes. Rapid Reader wore a pot on his head as his helmet. I had fun watching them pretend that Sir Reader was rescuing Lady Artherine from a big dragon who had her trapped in the forest. Can you guess who the dragon was? Believe it or not, but it was my big old dog named Dog-Eared! Dog-Eared let them put a green coat on him to make him look like a dragon. They had so much fun playing all afternoon out in the yard.
When I asked them why they decided to play like they were back in the days of the knights, they told me they got the idea from books they had read about King Arthur and Camelot. He had a special round table for his knights, and there were lots of great books and stories about their adventures. Once they read the books, they decided to pretend they lived back in the Middle Ages themselves. They came over and showed me what books they had read.
Have you ever pretended you were someone else when you have played with your friends? I remember pretending to be Superman when I was a young worm. I still wish I could fly like Superman did!
Now on to this week's news...

September 11th
There was a deafening boom as the first plane crashed.
Many people wondered, many people asked,
Was this just an accident or a terrorist attack?
There questions were soon answered as the second plane appeared.
Onlookers held their breath as it soon was clear,
America the great was doomed to live in fear.
Rescuers were immediately sent in,
To try and save thousands of helpless women and men.
Some people escaped most people did not.
Thousands of innocent lives were lost.
The world looked on in a silenced awe,
As the mighty towers began to fall.
People ran and people screamed,
As they struggled to get away from the horrible scene.
From now on that day will be remembered,
As the attack on not only the US but the world,
On that would-be normal day on the
11th of September.
I hope you liked my poem!! I am from Canada but God Bless America!! -a fellow bookworm

Is there Love
Is there love in the midst of Hatred
Is there peace in the middle of war
Is there hope in your heart
Enough hope for you to spread as far as you can
Is there happiness in the sadness
Is there a dream in your mind
A dream so big you can spread it far and wide
Are there people who believe this is true
Are there people like you
Are there people who know the answer
Are you one of these people
Is liberty all around
Enough to cover the world round and round
Is there friendship for me to share
Is there love in the air
Do you have that honest opinion that
freedom is something that goes on and on
and never ends...
*****
I can't promise anything
for I'm not always going to be there
I have a life of my own, you know
I'm not going to do everything for you
because you can those things too
I won't always follow your demands
I need to feel confident
I can't be your slave
and I have to take care of myself first
Why don't you depend on yourself?
It won't kill you to do one thing on your own
because I won't always be there to do it for you
Don't take me for granted
'cause everyone needs a best friend
and if you keep it up I'll leave
This poem (which didn't really rhyme but who cares? Poems don't have to rhyme..) is about taking your best friend(s) for granted and always thinking he or she will always be there to do things for you. It is also about not being too demanding of your best friend(s).

One of my favorite authors is Willow Davis Roberts. I have read several of her books including Hostage. Hostage is about a girl who goes home to get her allergy medicine one day from school. When she gets home her house is being robbed. She is taken hostage. How will she get out of this mess? Read it and find out. Also, another of my favorite books by her is The Kidnappers: A Mystery. In this book, a boy is hiding from a bully who is threatening to beat him up over an accident. While in hiding, he watches the bully get kidnapped! He reports his seeings. Soon, being the only witness, puts him into more trouble than he can handle. Once again, READ IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS! Some other books by her are, Megan's Island, Twisted Summer, Baby-sitting Is A Dangerous Job, Caught!, The View From The Cherry Tree, Surger Isn't Everything, and Don't Hurt Laurie! All her books will probably be great! I'd recomed her books any day!

Hello I have A Book Review for the book Frindle By Andrew Clements: Its about A. Kid named Nick who lives in New Hampshire and in 5th grade he has Mrs.Granger who loves the dictionary and Nick made up A word called Frindle it means the word Pen. And they were battling eachother and then Mrs.Granger and the priceable went over to Nick's house and talked to his parents. Mrs.Granger said It isn't respectful for authority and then Nicks parents said well, the kids don't want to be bad but this is kind of silly and then the priceable said well, this is kind of silly but Mrs.Granger made A big deal. So then when I kid said the word frindle they had to stay after school and write 10-0 sentences saying I am writing this punishment with A pen and then A lady who writes the newspaper came in to talk to Nick and they made An article in the newspaper about it. And then they made A pen with the word Frindle on it and they sold out really fast. And then on the sign welcome to the
city it said home of the original Frindle. And then when he grew up there was A letter from Mrs.Granger that said well, I said in 5th grade that I will send this to you when I new the battle was over and now it is. And it was the letter he wrote in 5th grade and A dictionary with the word Frindle in it. And it said in the letter now when I teach my kids I explain to them about this The End of the Review. I really think you should read this book BookerTworm.

I just read a book by Jean Lowry-Nixon called A Family Apart. It was excellent. I am interested in knowing more about her and her books. It seems that the one I read is the first in a series. It follows the lives of a family of children that travel on one of the Orphan Trains back in 1860. The work is fiction, but it is realistic and has references to social issues of the time period. The book I read includes information about the Underground Railroad and other pre-Civil War activity. It also gives some insight into immigration and movement west by families. Do you know any more about these books? I highly recommend the one I read. ~
There's a really cool book you have to read it's called The Last Battle. It's about a Monkey and a Unicorn fighting The Last battle.

I am reading a book and it called The Werewolf of Fever Swamp. I am on chapter5 and so far it is really cool my class has a whole bunch.
