Three sisters growing up on a farm in the Midwest decide the flat scenery around their house could use some help. "What this place needs is a tree," they think. They plant an elm tree and watch as it grows along with them, through marriage, and the births of their own children. And many years later, when the elm tree dies, a new generation of sisters plants a new generation of trees to start the lovely cycle once again.
