Benjamin Franklin --- not only invented the lightening rod and a new kind of stove, he also helped write the Declaration of Independence.
Thomas Jefferson --- focused on exploring America and making it grow. It was he who sent Lewis and Clark to find the Pacific Ocean.
Abraham Lincoln --- became president of the United States and then helped to abolish slavery in America.
Aunt Clara Brown --- became free at fifty-six after living her entire life as a slave and became one of the wealthiest women in the west.
Martin Luther King Jr. --- fought for equality among the races through peaceful means.
